Simple Website Fundamentals

This series of resources allows you to know more about your most important digital property – your website. Across three workshops, we cover off basic definitions of web-specific language, talk about establishing a clear purpose for your website, help you evaluate if you do it yourself or use someone else, and then how to refine your website into the future too.

Part 0: Definitions and Key Terms
Before you start the journey on creating your own website or talking to someone about building one for you, don’t get confused by language such as CSS, SSL, HTTPS and other key web terms.

Part 1: Starting Strong With Purpose
Let’s take the first steps together with confidence. In this session, we’ll talk about the purpose of your website, who you are building it for, tips to get the right features, and talk through the biggest question of all – do you build it yourself, or do you get someone else to help?

Part 2: Tips & Tricks to Refine Your Website
Once you have the website up and online, it’s important to keep on checking it to make sure it is effective, relevant and creating the results you want it to. This session will run through tips around design, usability, SEO and having relevant content to make sure your audience knows who you are.
